A Woman’s Circle provides a culture of respect and accountability for women in recovery from an addiction or eating disorder who are experiencing daily disruption in their mood and behavior. Such symptoms may be a result of reoccurring Post-Acute Withdrawal symptoms, medication dysregulation or Relapse Syndrome. Difficulty with increasing irritability, thinking clearly, remembering, managing emotions, sleeping restfully and extreme fatigue are symptoms that we are familiar with treating in this group. Further, women in recovery understand how change, chronic stress, relationship discord, co-dependent behaviors and work related stress can trigger thoughts, emotions and behaviors that if left unaddressed can lead to relapse. With early treatment, these symptoms, stressors or persisting triggers can be intervened upon in order that sobriety be maintained.
Treatment is coordinated by a psychiatrist and includes an initial comprehensive psychiatric, addiction or eating disorder evaluation followed by weekly reevaluation as scheduled, until discharge. Further, three hours of group therapy focused on recovery stabilization principles and reinstatement of recovery disciplines serves to provide the structure necessary for stabilization. To reinforce the accountability necessary for the change process to be sustaining, a minimum of one hour of individual therapy with an addictions specialist or eating disorder specialist is required.
In a safe and secure therapeutic environment, women are helping women recovery in a way that is life changing and sustaining in time.
